Gender and competitive performance: Closing gaps with smaller competitions

چکیده
We examine whether gender gaps in competitive performance are moderated by the size of competition. hypothesize that women underperform large, relative to small, competitions and smaller close enhancing women's performance. Study 1 demonstrates this effect using behavioral data from real marathon competitions. 2 experimentally replicates with behavior. 3 provides further experimental support exacerbated under competition that, these situations, small groups help bring up par men's. conclude a discussion about how making simple structural changes can reduce equity organizations.
